A16 crash updates: Motorcyclist dies near Spilsby as road closed for investigation

A motorcyclist has died following a crash involving a black BMW car on a major Lincolnshire road. The incident took place on the A16 at Partney, near Spilsby, at around 7.35pm on Sunday, May 12.

Police have closed the A16 in both directions from A158 Skegness Road (Partney) to B1195 Hundleby Road (Spilsby) while accident investigation work takes place. Emergency services attended the scene where the 36-year-old man, who was the travelling on the Yamaha motorcycle, was sadly pronounced dead.

Another man on the motorcycle was also injured but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Police say the road will be closed “for the foreseeable” while they try to piece together what happened.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We are warning motorists to avoid the area with a closure in place at the junction of Granary Close, Spilsby. Now, we are appealing for witnesses who saw the collision, which involved a black BMW car and a blue Yamaha motorcycle or saw the vehicles before or after the incident.
