A busy route through a Derby suburb is to close for five days of roadworks this week. Part of Chaddesden Lane, in Chaddesden, will be shut from 8am tomorrow, Monday, April 11 until 5pm on Good Friday, April 15, to allow Western Power Distribution works to take place.
The electric works will be carried out under a road closure from Chaddesden Lane’s junction with Tudor Road to its junction with The Memorial Hall. The area which will be shut spans a distance of approximately 51 metres.
A diversion route will be in place for affected motorists via Chaddesden Lane, Nottingham Road, Sir Frank Whittle Road, Hampshire Road, Hereford Road, Max Road, Wood Road, and the same in the opposite direction.

Part of a letter, sent out to local residents last week, reads: “Western Power Distribution working with our contractors Network Plus are due to commence work on the local electricity network. Digging and cable lay is scheduled to start April 11, to April 15.
“The road closure will be outside the entrance to 86/84 Chaddesden Lane. I realise access to your properties will be of concern, and every effort will be made to reduce disruption.”

Boulton Lane, Alvaston
Severn Trent Water works will be carried out in Boulton Lane from tomorrow, Monday, April 11 until Wednesday, April 13. There will be a temporary closure of the Boulton Lane off-slip road, and a suspension of the left turn onto A5111 Harvey Road to allow the work to take place.
A diversion route will be in place for affected motorists via Boulton Lane, Crayford Road, Boulton Lane, A514 Chellaston Road, A514 Osmaston Road, A5111 Harvey Road, Blue Peter Island, and the A5111 Harvey Road.
Spindletree Drive, Oakwood
A temporary road closure will be enforced to allow Severn Trent Water gas works to be carried out outside No.51 Spindletree Drive on Thursday, April 14 only. A diversion route will be in place for affected motorists via Spindletree Drive, Somerby Way, Bishops Drive, and Spindletree Drive, and the same in the opposite direction.
Raynesway East Service Road, just off A5111 Raynesway, Derby
Resurfacing works will continue to be carried out on the Raynesway East Service Road, just off the A5111 Raynesway, this week after starting on April 4. An overnight road closure will be in place from the road’s junction with the A5111 Raynesway to past its junction with Megaloughton Lane by approximately 50m up to Raynesway Ambulance Station.
This will be in place each night between 7pm and 6am until Wednesday, April 20, other than on the four days from Good Friday, April 15 until Easter Monday, April 18, when there will be no works.
A diversion route will be in place for affected motorists, taking them via Raynesway, Derby Road, Station Road, Holme Lane, Celanese Road, and Megaloughton Lane.

Kedleston Road, Allestree
Temporary traffic lights are in force along part of the busy Derby route and are set to remain in place for another three weeks. Two-way signals are in operation near the road’s junction with Askerfield Avenue, in Allestree, to allow a new roundabout to be built by a major housing development.
Work started in late January to build the roundabout, which will provide access to Miller Homes’ new large-scale Kedleston Grange development. Once the roundabout is nearing completion, there will be a full closure of Kedleston Road to allow for final surfacing work to take place.

A38, between Toyota Island and M1 at junction 28
A stretch of the A38 in Derbyshire is currently undergoing “essential vegetation management work” which requires lane closures. The section of road runs between the A50 interchange (Toyota junction) to the M1 junction 28 interchange and the work will mainly be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am.
Work started in January and it is anticipated that it will be completed by the end of this month. You can read the full story on the ongoing A38 works here.
