Dramatic photo shows aftermath of serious crash on A38 in Alfreton

Dramatic photos show the aftermath of a crash on a busy carriageway.

Police from Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit have warned motorists not to ‘drink and drive’ after a serious collision on A38.

It comes as the vehicle crashed into a barrier while being witnessed by officers at Amber Valley Response, the force confirmed.

Police then discovered that the motorist was twice over the drink-drive limit, it has been reported by police.

The driver was subsequently arrested and charged.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit have shared a tweet on Saturday morning (February 5) alongside a picture of the damaged vehicle on the carriageway.

It reads: “A38 Alfreton. Mazda crashes into barrier witnessed by @AValleyResponse.

“We attend to assist and the driver blows over twice the drink-drive limit. Arrested and charged. #Fatal4 #DontDrinkDrive ”
