‘Erratic driving’ reported in Nottingham city centre as police make discovery

Police made a discovery of drugs and a weapon after spotting two cars driving erratically through Nottingham city centre. Officers spotted two vehicles being driven along Maid Marian Way at round 1am on Wednesday, April 6.

One of the vehicles was stopped and the other was found a short time later in Greyfriar Gate after colliding with a curb. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a knife, a significant quantity of cannabis, tablets, cash, phones and other evidence.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A and B drugs with intent to supply, possessing a bladed article and driving without due care and attention. Nobody was injured.

Sergeant Robert Palethorpe, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a good result for officers whose attention had been drawn to two cars driving erratically through the city centre. It is good news that a suspect has been detained and more illegal drugs have been taken off the streets.”
