Former Derbyshire salon could be turned into takeaway and shop

A former salon in a Derbyshire town could be turned into a takeaway and shop under new plans.

The unit in Derby Road, Long Eaton, used to contain a salon called Altered Images, but it has been empty since January 2020 and little has been done it in the two years on.

Now its owner wants to bring it back into use by splitting the ground floor into two separate units.

One of these would be used as a takeaway, while the other would remain open for use as a retail space.

According to an application form submitted with the plans, the new takeaway would create the equivalent of two full time jobs.

It says it would be open from 5pm to 1am every day, apart from Sunday’s when it will be open from 5pm to midnight.

In a supporting statement, the applicant says: “External works are limited to a small high level exhaust duct. Alternative positions are proposed for the duct, and the final position will be finalised once the selected manufacturer carries out a site specific odour management assessment.

“The work to alter the shop front will be carried out sympathetically and in keeping with the existing style and colour.

“The application seeks to provide an additional facility that will complement other shops and services in the local area, with very little external impact.”
