Gainsborough man charged with murder following death of John Connolly

A man has been charged with the murder of John Connolly, who was found dead on Portland Street, Lincoln on Tuesday, June 18. Owen Blades, of Gainsborough, was charged with murder on Tuesday, June 25, and has been remanded into custody ahead of appearing at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 26.

The 26-year-old has also been charged with shop theft relating to an incident in a Tesco on Lincoln High Street, as well as a burglary at a separate address in the area. The investigation into Mr Blades’ death is still ongoing and anyone who has information that may assist officers with their investigation should call 101.

In an update, Lincolnshire Police stated: “We have charged Owen Blades, 26, of Tennyson Street, Gainsborough, with murder following the death of John Connolly. He was charged this evening and has been remanded into custody for a hearing at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on June 26.

“He has also been charged with shop theft relating to an incident reported by Tesco in Lincoln High Street, and burglary at a separate address in the area. Our investigation into John’s death is continuing, and we would ask anyone who has not yet come forward with information that may assist with our investigation to get in touch by calling 101 or reporting it through the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) under Operation Linen.”
