Gang attack outside Costa Coffee leaves victim seriously injured

Derbyshire police are appealing for information following a serious assault on a man outside Costa Coffee in Derby city centre. The victim was reportedly set upon by a group of people in St Peter’s Street on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 5.

Officers say that a fight broke out during which a man was seriously assaulted. They now want the victim to come forward and help them identify the assailants.

Derbyshire police said: “We are appealing for information after receiving a report that a man was seriously assaulted by a group of people in Derby. The incident is reported to have happened at around 2.25pm in St Peter’s Street, outside Costa Coffee on Tuesday 5 April.

“It is understood that a fight broke out and a man was seriously assaulted during the fight. We have not yet located the victim of the assault and ask that he comes forward, so that we can check that he is safe and well and so that we may progress our enquiries into the incident.

We are aware that there were members of the public in the area at the time and ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or with information which may help our investigation contact us quoting reference 22*193785.
