Derbyshire Police were called out to a domestic disturbance on Friday night following reports a mother was being held against her will.
The police patrol gained entry to the property and negotiated with the suspect, before resolving the situation.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault, police said.
Posting to Twitter just after 1am on Saturday Derbyshire Armed Response Unit said: “Brought to a peaceful resolution by one of our ARV crews, by gaining entry to property and negotiating with male.
“Who was then arrested susp of assault. #vulnerability addressed for all involved.”
The location was not disclosed.
