Met Office predicts Nottingham to bask in sunshine this weekend

Sunshine and temperatures ‘well above’ the seasonal average are set to grace Nottinghamshire this weekend. According to the Met Office the sun will continue to shine throughout Friday, March 25 and until Sunday, March 27.

It comes after temperatures in the city and beyond reached highs of 18C, well above the cooler climate in the Spanish city of Barcelona where rain and 15C temperatures had been forecast. From Sunday onwards, however, the city looks to be covered with darker, cloudy skies with highs of only 15C, dropping to 10C by the end of the month.

The Met Office says: “Any early mist and fog patches soon clearing, leaving a dry day with only a little patchy cloud and generally sunny conditions. Becoming warm, with temperatures well above the seasonal average, except cooler along the coast with light onshore winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C.”

It recently shot down reports of an April heatwave, however, and instead promised “unsettled” weather later next week. UV warnings stand at ‘medium’ on Friday and Saturday meaning sunscreen may be required if you’re out and about in the sun all day.

On March 25 temperatures are set to reach 17C by 2pm, last for a few hours before cooling to 10C by 11pm. On March 26 the 17C highs will be reached by 1pm and sunshine will last much of the day.

Sunday, March 27 looks a little less appealing with cloud coverage throughout the morning. Sunny spells are predicted from 1pm, but temperatures only look set to hit a maximum of 13C.

From Monday, March 28 the cloud coverage looks set to remain, with temperatures much cooler than the Barcelona-blasting heat this week. Speaking of next week the Met Office says: “Cloudier with temperatures falling back to average. Areas of mist, low cloud or fog are likely at first, then gradually clearing from some inland areas each day. Chance of showers.”
