Person taken to hospital after medical emergency caused closure of busy Lincoln road

A city street was closed off by Lincolnshire Police due to a medical emergency in the road. Dunford Road in Lincoln was shut in both directions at the Sincil Street junction while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police have confirmed that the incident was not a crash but a person needing assistance in the road. Traffic was moving very slowly in the area due to the road closure, which has since been lifted.

The nature of the medical emergency is not yet clear, but police have confirmed the person is being transferred to hospital. At 1.25pm on Friday, May 17, a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We have closed Dunford Road, Lincoln just off Broadgate at the Sincil Street junction just before the bridge while ambulance crews respond to a medical emergency.

“This is not a collision, but the person needing help is in the road. Please avoid the area.” The police force have been approached for any updates.
