Police issue update after teenager stabbed in Carlton on night of violence

Two men have been arrested after a teenage boy was stabbed in Carlton. A 17-year-old boy was attacked in Oakdale Road at around 6pm on Monday (April 11).

He was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, and a shop owner told Nottinghamshire Live how a colleague rushed to the victim’s aid. Police continue to investigate the stabbing.

Nottinghamshire Police stopped a vehicle in Cardale Road, in Sneinton, at around 11.10pm on Tuesday (April 12) evening. A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Police also arrested another 20-year-old man on suspicion of wounding with intent in connection with the investigation, officers having visited an address in Mapperley on Tuesday night. Both suspects remain in police custody and are being questioned in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant James Hirst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are continuing to work hard to understand the circumstances and are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who may have CCTV, mobile phone or dash-cam footage relating to this incident to please come forward. We understand the immense impact knife-related crime can have on people’s lives and the concern it can cause within wider communities.

“That’s why we work tirelessly with our partners all year round to educate people about the consequences and dangers of carrying a knife and getting drawn into violent crime. Any incident is one too many.

“We are working relentlessly to keep people safe and drive down violent crime and the force will not hesitate in taking robust action against those who use knives to cause fear or harm to others. The continued support of the community is absolutely vital in tackling this issue.”

The stabbing happened hours before a separate stabbing in Netherfield. Police were called out to Victoria Road at around 10.25pm on Monday after a 19-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach. on Tuesday, Police said the two stabbings were not believed to be linked following the night of violence which left the city rocked.
