Police have released images of four men they’d like to speak to after a group attempted to steal thousands of pounds from a popular city pub. Officers say a group entered the Strait and Narrow in Lincoln on Wednesday, June 5, and ordered two separate rounds of drinks while politely engaging with members of staff.
When paying, officers say one man held the card machine himself while others distracted the staff. The man reportedly tampered with the card machine and managed to refund thousands to his card. He repeated this again with a second round of drinks and staff only realised what had happened when they came to cash up later on, police said.
The pub was able to contact the bank and cancel the payment before the money could be stolen. Police say the group continued on to various other eateries and stores in Lincoln where they attempted to perform the same trick.
