The people of Lincolnshire were treated to a flypast from the Red Arrows and a Boeing RC-135 ahead of the display team’s first UK show. All nine Red Arrows jets joined the impressive Boeing electronic surveillance aircraft on a flight across the county.
It was part of a flypast at RAF College Cranwell at 10.30am this morning (Thursday, May 30). The aircraft took off from RAF Waddington in the morning before flying all over the county, as far north as Ingham and as far south as Lutton.
The Boeing RC-135 is a dedicated electronic surveillance aircraft that can be employed in all theatres on strategic and tactical missions. It is part of a family of large reconnaissance aircraft built by Boeing and modified by a number of companies.
The Red Arrows will perform their first UK display of the 60th anniversary season on Friday (May 31) when they head to the Midlands Air Festival in Warwickshire. A full 2024 Red Arrows display schedule was released in March which listed all 37 displays planned this year, including the British Grand Prix and the King’s Birthday flypast.
It is the team’s diamond anniversary season and will see the return of the iconic nine-ship formation not seen since 2021. With the season now well underway, Lincolnshire’s much-loved aerobatics team will be seen more often gracing the county’s skies.
