Leicestershire charity invites four-legged friends to meet Santa this Christmas
Canine Partners, the UK charity that trains assistance dogs to transform the lives of adults with physical disabilities, is spreading festive cheer this December with its Santa Paws event – a Christmas experience designed especially for dogs.
Founded in 1990, Canine Partners trains highly skilled assistance dogs to help adults with a wide range of physical disabilities. From opening doors and picking up dropped items to loading washing machines and assisting with dressing, these remarkable dogs give the people they support greater confidence, independence and quality of life.
On Saturday 13 December, the charity’s National Training Centre in Loughborough will welcome four-legged friends and their families for a magical day. Dogs will have the chance to meet Father Christmas in his grotto, pose for festive photos, and receive a special gift – ensuring a truly tail-wagging experience for every pooch.
Earlier in the day, families can have Breakfast with Santa, which includes a delicious festive menu, a visit from Father Christmas and a gift for every child – making it a memorable day out for the whole family.
“We’re excited to welcome families and their dogs to our events with Santa,” said Rebecca Middleton, Community Fundraising Officer at Canine Partners. “It promises to be a wonderful day, and every ticket sold helps us continue our life-changing work, giving people the gift of independence.”
For those who prefer a more traditional celebration, Canine Partners is hosting a Carol Concert at All Saints Church, Loughborough, on Sunday 7 December. The afternoon will feature much-loved carols, a live demonstration showcasing the dogs’ life-changing skills, and the chance to hear first-hand from someone whose life has been transformed by their canine partner.
