Police say they found three knives after pulling over a car where they suspected the driver may have been taking drugs.
The roadside stop was carried out in Radford Road, New Basford, at around 2.30am on Friday, October 1.
It was stopped by officers who suspected the driver may be under the influence of drink or drugs – police claim there was also a strong smell of cannabis coming from within the car.
A roadside drug swipe tested positive and officers also found three knives inside the car, according to the force.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife in a public place and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
Sergeant James Rimmington, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was excellent police work from patrolling officers whose keen instincts led to the seizure of three knives and the arrest of the driver
“Drugs and knife crime are incredibly damaging to local communities which is why the force takes such incidents very seriously.
“Working with local residents is a key part of our strategy in tackling drug and knife crime and it is really important that anyone who sees anything suspicious in their area reports it to Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or in an emergency, dial 999.”
