A well-used route through a Derby suburb is to undergo a week of road closures starting tomorrow.
Derby City Council will be resurfacing Vicarage Road, Mickleover, from its junction with Uttoxeter Road and Etwall Road, to its junction with Catterick Drive, from Monday, February 14.
The major roadworks project is expected to take six working days and is set to be completed on Monday, February 21.
A road closure is set to be enforced each day from 8am until 4pm, when a diversion route will be in place for affected motorists via Etwall Road, Ladybank Road, Catterick Drive, and the same in the opposite direction.
In a letter sent to directly-affected residents, the city council provided more details about the work which will be carried out by its own in-house Streetpride team.
Part of the letter reads: “A road closure is necessary to complete the work safely and a diversion route will be in place during this time. Work is subject to good weather and no other urgent work taking priority.
“With over 1,734 square meters of Tarmac to replace, we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding and hope that you agree this improvement work will make a difference.”
Some other routes are also due to undergo roadworks this week, according to the city council website and roadworks collaboration site one.network.
We’ve put together a list of roadworks taking place in the city, correct as of the time of publication on Sunday, February 13.

Stone Hill Road, Derby
Gas works will be taking place in Stone Hill Road, from its junction with Empress Road to Vicarage Avenue, this week.
A temporary road closure will be in force during daytime working hours from tomorrow, Monday, February 14 until Friday, February 18, to allow the works to be carried out.
According to the Derby City Council website, a diversion route will be in place for affected motorists via Stone Hill Road, St Chad’s Road, Breedon Hill Road, and Burton Road, and in the opposite direction via Stone Hill Road, Empress Road, and St Chad’s Road.
Kedleston Road, Allestree
Temporary traffic lights are in force along part of the busy Derby route and are set to remain in place for another 11 weeks.
Two-way signals are in operation near the road’s junction with Askerfield Avenue, in Allestree, to allow a new roundabout to be built by a major housing development.
Work started on Monday, January 31, to build the roundabout, which will provide access to Miller Homes’ new large-scale Kedleston Grange development.
While Kedleston Road will not undergo any closures in the short-term, Askerfield Avenue will be fully closed for a period to allow for the safe construction of the roundabout.
Once the roundabout is nearing completion, there will however be a full closure of Kedleston Road to allow for final surfacing work to take place.
Trowels Lane, Derby
Western Power Distribution started work in Trowels Lane earlier this month, with electrical works there due to be completed by Friday, February 25.
A temporary parking bay suspension is in place from 76 Trowels Lane to 27 Mayvale Grove, as is a public footpath closure to allow the works to be carried out safely.
A38, between Toyota Island and M1 at junction 28
A stretch of the A38 in Derbyshire is currently undergoing “essential vegetation management work” which requires lane closures.
The section of road runs between the A50 interchange (Toyota junction) to the M1 junction 28 interchange and the work will mainly be between 8pm and 6am.
Work started in January, and it is anticipated that it will be completed by the end of April.
