A Lincolnshire town’s council has announced that it will be postponing its Christmas market and light switch-on event. The festive event was due to take place in Wainfleet All Saints on Saturday, November 23, but the Town Council has decided to change the date due to the weather forecast.
The event is now scheduled to take place the following week on Sunday, December 1. On Wednesday, November 20, Wainfleet All Saints Town Council announced on its Facebook page that: “It’s with much regret that we have taken the decision to postpone Saturdays Christmas Market and light switch on.
“The weather forecast is pretty horrible for Saturday so we have decided to move the Market and switch on to Sunday December 1 from 12:00 to 17:30. There will still be entertainment, stalls and obviously the lights switch on. Let’s hope we are lucky on Sunday week.”

This change has come days after the council claimed someone attempted to steal the lights of the Christmas tree in its market place. On Sunday, November 17, the council shared: “This is the last straw someone has tried to steal the lights off the tree in the market place we are sick to death.
“This is not children this is someone trying to steal them.” The Council has warned that it is going through its CCTV footage and anyone with information about the incident should contact them.
