Police issue update after ‘shotgun fired at front door’ in village near Spilsby

Police have made two further arrests in connection with a shooting in a Lincolnshire village. Officers were initially called to an address on Thorpe Bank in Little Steeping, near Spilsby, during the early hours of Saturday, May 25.

A man in his 30s was injured when a shotgun was fired and the pellets became embedded in his leg. Police believe that the incident took place when a shotgun was discharged at the front door, which injured the victim who was inside.

Police arrested two men in connection with this incident. One was released on bail and Michael Watling, 37, of Guard House Avenue, Kieghly, Bradford, was charged with one count of attempted murder and remanded into custody.

On Monday, June 17, police issued an update into the investigation which confirmed the arrests of two more people in connection with the incident. A 36-year-old man was arrested in the Spilsby area on Friday, June 14, on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of Class A drugs.

A second man, aged 37, was arrested in the Skegness area on the same day on suspicion of attempted murder. Both men have been released on police bail while investigations continue.

Watling is set to appear at Lincoln Crown Court on Tuesday, June 25.
